Sound of Artifact

If artifacts could speak, how should they sound?

The research question

What kinds of voices do visitors prefer for talking artifacts in a VR museum?

What we explored

We compared default synthetic, familiar and user-customized voices for artifact chatbots in a within-subjects study with 21 participants.

Why this work matters

Participants preferred customized voices, suggesting that giving visitors control over an artifact’s voice can enrich their experience.
