Find a question that interests you
HER Lab brings together undergraduate, master’s and PhD students with different backgrounds. Our work combines designing and building experiences with studying how people use them.
You might be interested in how people explore a heritage site, how virtual exhibits adapt to visitors, or how physical and digital objects support learning.
Ways to contribute
- Design: interaction design, visual communication, prototyping and storytelling.
- Build: Unity, VR/AR development, web experiences, 3D modelling and technical experimentation.
- Research: literature review, interviews, user studies and data analysis.
- Connect disciplines: bring knowledge of culture, heritage, education or creative practice.
These are examples of useful contributions. You do not need to arrive with every skill; the fit depends on the project and the support available.
A good place to start
- Read two or three project stories and one related paper.
- Pick a question or part of a project you would like to explore.
- Send a short introduction with your background, interests, relevant work and likely availability.
If you are asking about a dissertation, research degree, placement or visiting opportunity, mention which route you have in mind. Opportunities depend on supervision capacity, project needs and the relevant university arrangements.
